An RV is a small house on wheels: a fresh water system, a water heater, a 12-volt and 120-volt electrical system, a roof that has to stay sealed, and the appliances that keep you cool, warm and fed. Most of the time you never think about them. Then something drips, trips or stops working at a campground, and you need to understand it fast.
RV Systems Explained answers two questions for every system in a typical RV: how does it work, and why is it doing that. We explain the parts, what normally goes wrong, what an owner can safely check, and when the right move is to call a qualified RV technician.
How we make our guides
- Diagrams, not stock photos. Every guide is built around simplified illustrations that show how a system works. Treat them as explanatory drawings rather than exact replicas of any specific brand or model.
- Reviewed before publishing. Every guide is reviewed before it is published, and we update it when we find better information.
- Safety first. Propane, high-voltage electrical work and work on the roof carry real risks. When a job is not safe for an owner to do alone, we say so plainly.
